Improving the quality of primary education in Northern Nepal.

We help children learn in an environment which is safe, meaningful, worthwhile and fun.

The Nepal Education Foundation (nef) is a small UK charity that improves primary education in Northern Nepal.

We are focused on results.

By making small improvements at many schools, we can dramatically impact attendance, grades and continual progression through the schooling system.

We ensure teachers have the skills, resources and support they need.

Teachers must feel they have the resources they need. This directly impacts the ability of children to learn, be creative and to succeed on whatever path they choose.

We also want parents to believe in great education. Parent encouragement is crucial in children’s attitudes and attendance.

We achieve all this with our build, equip, teach approach. You can support our projects by donating here.

Build: infrastructure projects with community involvement.

In partnership with the local government, we invest in infrastructure projects that provide the right environment for children to learn at their best.

Many schools we work with lack basic facilities and structures. We provide funds to construct classrooms, toilets and playgrounds. Get in touch to see how you can help one of our schools.

Equip: providing schools with equipment, materials and resources suited to the local context.

With a focus on child-centric learning, we have developed a set of educational materials that encourage creative learning through play.

We provide our schools with teaching equipment, materials and resources suitable in the local context. You can donate £50 to help one of our schools in this way.

Teach: facilitating continuous professional development.

We work with a cohort of teachers to facilitate their continuous professional development. We invest in expert training and coaching.

We provide support in curriculum development and share best practices in child-centric pedagogy.

Empowerment & accountability underpin our approach, ensuring our impact is sustainable.

We work with local government and engage local parents to ensure our interventions are relevant and sustainable. By working with School Management Committees (SMC) and Village Development Committees (VDC), parents are encouraged to take ownership of education provision and hold the government (including teachers) to account.

Helping parents manage a Child’s education impacts student and teacher attendance, as well as reducing isolation and improving the social capital of parents.
